Signed
This sake glass was hand made by Shimadzu, Ltd, in Kagoshima prefecture, Japan.
It is a type of "Edo Kiriko" which is traditional Japanese art form of cut glass (kiriko) that developed around the city of Edo (historical name for Tokyo).
This "Satsuma Kiriko" cup is distinct from Edo Kiriko by its use of more gently sloping cuts, resulting in softer gradation of color around the cut pattern.
MARKINGS
Signed "Shimadzu" with the Shimadzu logo (equilateral cross within a circle) via etching on lower portion of the glass. (Please see the last photo.)
