in addition to his work as a designer of lights, … more Ingo maurer was a german lighting designer and light artist.
in addition to his work as a designer of lights, he also appeared as a lighting designer in public and private spaces. Among other things, he illuminated the munich freedom and munich west cemetery subway stations.
he also attracted attention as a critic of the ban on light bulbs. Quote maurer from 2010:
“the light bulb is an icon. A murderous thought that they want to kill the light bulb. I can only hope that god will help us, that this cup will pass from us. Light brings a fourth dimension, an unconscious spirituality.”
ingo maurer designed the uchiwa lamp in 1973. It was only produced in small numbers for two years. The lamp is a reminiscence of the impressive uchiwa fans from japan.
made from bamboo and rice paper. Three e27 sockets.
the faded brand label is still attached to the bamboo handle
