This is an impressive mirror crafted entirely in carved wood that has been gilded. There is a label on the … more This is an impressive mirror crafted entirely in carved wood that has been gilded. There is a label on the back indicating that it was made in Italy. The style is reminiscent of the French Louis XIV period or the following period, known as the Régence. It appears that the central glass mirror may have been replaced at some point as it is different from the glass mirror insets surrounding it. The smaller mirrors are darker and not as clear as the central one. There is a break in one of the ornate scrolls on the right side of the top piece (refer to picture 10). It is not in danger of falling off provided that it is handled carefully. The gilding is worn in places as one would expect from a mirror of this age.

This is a heavy mirror that measures 60" high and 31.5" wide. The central glass mirror measures 30" high and 20.5" wide. less
