The desk was made by the Colonial Manufacturing Company in cooperation with … Read more Beautiful faithful reproduction of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow’s desk. The desk was made by the Colonial Manufacturing Company in cooperation with the Edison Institute, also known as the Henry Ford Museum. Four graduated external drawers sit below the beautifully inlaid slant lid with original lock and key. The true gem of this desk is the interior. The stepped amphitheater design has a series of 9 well shaped drawers below a total of 8 cubbies and single cabinet. The entire middle section of the interior releases by unlocking two hidden pins in the cubbies. The section then slides out and has 4 secret drawers behind a sliding panel. This 1930’s era desk is in great vintage condition. The mahogany has a nice warm patina. There are two areas of minor wood loss as seen in the last two photos. The upper right corner of the slant lid, and the top of the base molding on the right side. See less
