Most likely a representation of the the mythological Fenghuang birds that would burn and resuscitate from their ashes, but could be just humble peacocks, which were also venerated in Chinese culture
Very unique, rare and impressive
Remains of original gilt still present
Amazing multilayered weathered patina in patches of gold, brown and greenish
