Elevate your coastal dining decor with this stunning vintage Portuguese majolica ceramic crab tureen reminiscent of Palissy. Hand-crafted in Portugal, this whimsical serving dish features a realistic red crab design with incredible textural details from its protruding eyes to articulated claws and shell. The vivid high-gloss red glaze showcases the fine artistry of Portuguese or Italian majolica ceramics. We're unsure of its country of origin, but it's top-shelf. There are maker marks, but they're largely indecipherable. We've selected the country of origin based on smaller versions of this piece that share the same markings and are attributed to Portugal.
This charming crab sculpture doubles as a functional covered dish, with the top shell lifting off to reveal ample space for serving soups, chowders, dips or even holding trinkets.
