There is one hen lid with a chip on the exterior lid lip, as noted in the last photograph. It only noticeable by close examination. It does not deter or deflect from its integrity or beauty. This set has minor roughness that are not flea bites, but occurred during its manufacture. Some of the red paint is missing on the eyes. All of these conditions are minor and do not detract from its essence. less

This is a beautiful set of 6 Hen on Nest small oval covered dishes that would be awesome on the tables for a baby shower, with flowers in milk glass vases, milk glass candle holders…This set includes 6 nest dishes and 6 hen lids.
These are somewhat translucent milk glass, with a basket weave design on the oval dish and hen lid accented with red comb, wattle and eyes.
Two sizes were made in this similar design by Indiana Glass. This is the smaller version that was made earlier than the larger version that is about 7 inches in length.
The smaller version, up for sale here, was only made in clear and white milk glass. These smaller versions are often referred to as “Mystery Hen”. From my research, I believe them to have been made in 1930. These were originally sold as a relish covered dish.
Milk glass is versatile for use at festive parties. Different designs and eras meld together beautifully. This makes the ambiance uniquely memorable and awesome by your design. less
