Description: This enamel on copper made in Paris for AC McClurg and Co. Of Chicago is after the Limoges tradition of … more This enamel on copper made in Paris for AC McClurg and Co. Of Chicago is after the Limoges tradition of enameling which reached its peak and became popular during the Renaissance. The scene shows archangel Gabriel holding the lily, a symbol of purity, representing the Virgin Mary. This is a part of the famous Annunciation. The plate is affixed to a wood frame with brass (see photo) and has brass embellishments on the front.
