Very large antique French 19th Century Louis Philippe style gold gilt mirror adorned with a large finely-carved bow cartouche. This beautiful antique French gold gilt mirror has the typical rounded upper corners that make it a Louis Philippe mirror. Louis Philippe mirrors, with their clean lines and versatile shape, are a popular choice in traditional or contemporary home settings.The mirror has its original mirror plate and wooden back cladding. The mirror glass shows some nice foxing. The original gilt finish of the frame is nicely worn, giving it great character.The mirror frame is structurally healthy and the glass is still in a very good condition. There are some minor imperfections to the frame, as would be expected with a piece of this age and usage, but this does not in any way detract from its charm. In many case we don't know who the pervious owners of the mirrors are that we are selling. with this mirror we do know! As we collected the mirror ourselves from a wonderful maison close to Carcassonne in the South of France. It is not often to know the exact history of a mirror and to find such a wonderfully well-preserved example!
