Large Chinese porcelain goldfish guanyinzun, a finely formed, stoutly potted, baluster shape vase with denglong-head handles, a polychrome glazed exterior and a white glazed interior and inset base. Myriad, diverse, orange goldfish, frolicking amid amid a dense assortment of various aquatic plants and seaweeds, are a finely painted on the body of the vase. Four, finely carved and painted, green beast-head, rope handles are quartered on the shoulder of the vase. Branching, leafy, floral, polychrome, vine medallions are quartered on the neck, and a band of green chevrons with alternating, polychrome, floral accents decorates the upper shoulder. The foot is accented with a band that repeats the decoration of the upper shoulder, with a band of slim, green quatrefoils and red flowers in a dense, diagonal lattice. A black and turquoise, beribboned, solid lozenge, symbol mark is glazed to the inset base. The large, finely carved, traditional, Chinese, hongmu, circular stand is included. Circa Republic of China era, no later than mid century.
