Pair of antique oak map cabinets with maps adhered to the interior.

These pieces feature what appear to be period-appropriate U.S. maps produced by Rand McNally. This is interesting as the manufacturer of this piece, John W. Illif & Co., was also a producer of maps at the time; in fact, they were more known for their maps than map cabinets. Each drawer corresponds to a state in the U.S. with the name of the state engraved into the handle. Some states have had updated Standard Oil maps pasted over the originals, these maps include more detailed information and legends. There are minimal design embellishments on this piece with the exception of beveled paneling on the sides and a tempered glass top. less
