Baskets of this nature were all the rage in the mid to late mid-century! This beauty’s size is perfect for use as a sewing or light craft storage basket or to simply display as a décor accent.
The bamboo frame has been handwoven with natural rattan stakes and weavers in an over and under design. The outer border rail of the basket’s base and hinged top integrates an all-around braided willow trim. Double interlocking bent bamboo handles have been wrapped in rattan weavers, as has the lip of the basket and the top’s lower lip. Colors are naturally aged earth tone hues. It measures 16¼” x 11” x 11¾” W/D/H; interior 15¾” x 10½” x 9” W/D/H; weight 1 lb. 14 oz. In excellent condition, structurally sound with age-appropriate wear. There is one imperceptible break to the top’s right hand front corner (see photo 8) and an indiscernible loosening of one strand of the rope hinge on the backside to the far right (see photo 4 & 7); maker unknown. A fabulous looking beauty that will complement any style, any space!
