Set of 4 Danish wooden chairs and fabric seats; each chair has a refined and elegant design and the structure is solid and functional; the most interesting part of the chair is the elaborate and imaginative backrest with a harmonious and sophisticated design; in the center is a woodwork, designed and shaped with skill and expertise by a Master cabinetmaker; the front legs have been meticulously turned giving them a light and proportionate shape, while the back legs have a slightly curved square section. The seat upholstery was replaced in earlier times and is in good condition; it is a graceful wool-silk blend fabric and at the same time sturdy and durable. On each chair in the front band, under the seat, the master cabinetmaker has executed, using the technique of inlay ( or marquetry), fine decorations with a variety of exotic wood of a color other than walnut that create an exceptional ensemble and a fantastic color effect; the master craftsman by including this workmanship has achieved an additional addition of refinement and sophistication on the chairs. The chairs were handcrafted in Denmark between 1850 and 1860 during the reign of Frederick VII in perfect Biedermeier style using premium walnut wood. The Biedermeier style that spread mainly in Austria and Germany between 1820 and 1850 characterized furniture and furnishings that became simpler in response to the majesty typical of the Empire style. The Biedermeier style that emerged after the Congress of Vienna and the decline of the Napoleonic Empire was aimed particularly at the bourgeoisie desiring simple and functional furniture. The Biedermeier artistic movement aims to enhance sobriety and harmony, modifying some of the stylistic motifs from the earlier period, but stripping them of all the ornamentation, frills, and excesses that had characterized it. In this sober and harmonious chair, the juxtaposition of curved and straight lines is skillfully emphasized in an interesting interplay of volumes and geometries, giving the object a timeless elegance that can characterize any room in the home. The seat upholstery has, as mentioned above, been replaced and the original wooden part is in good condition, so we did not consider doing any restoration on the chairs because their authentic appearance and slight imperfections make them truly alluring and fascinating and attest to their antiquity. Measurements width cm.42, depth cm.40, height cm.84, seat cm.46. We use special packing materials (wooden crates, styrofoam, etc.) for maximum protection and safety of the objects. less
