Rare to find. Elegant and gorgeous piece of artworks. as the name of mark on bottom says it. "Porcelainart "The heavy 24k gold painted and gilded tea pot and creamer and cups states collectable value particularly as the rarity, its few hexagon shape history are all concerned.
Following the discovery of kaolin in 1764 the first hard porcelain factory was built in 1774 by the Count of La Seynie, in Saint Yrieix-La-Perche in Haute-Vienne, LS porcelain factory remains one of the oldest porcelain factories in Limoges still in activity.
With 250 years history of manufacture and recognized by professionals for the quality of its porcelain , La Seynie produced some of the world's finest and most beautiful Limoges porcelain. these artwork of porcelain are one of them.
The trademark is represented in cursive letter by LS and a dot, or interlaced LS.
The Count of Seynie (Jean-Baptiste Du Garreau De La Seynie), with his two cousins Du Garreau De Grésignac and De Beaupoil de Saint Aulaire, managed it until 1789. They enlisted the services of Fournerat, former pharmacist of the Comte D'Artois factory in Limoges, which would subsequently become the renowned Manufacture Royale.
in 1823.Denuelle Dominique, Parisian porcelain maker bought LS and transferred his manufacturing to La Seynie in 1834 but kept his workshop on Boulevard Saint-Denis in which he still decorates his production.
During 1834 to 1903,the owners has changed several time but all of the production and manufacturing supplies the decoration workshops in Limoges and Paris. LS trademark was stamped , some of them with Paris address.
On Dec 3 1903.the Paroutaud Brothers took over La Seynie and created a new brand “La Seynie P and P”. This hexagon shape patent tea set was continuedly produced during 1903 to 1917 but marked green "La Seynie Limoges P P France" mark .
In 1934, La Seynie was bought by Lajanthe, Pailler and Descottes and became the company: “Les Porcelaines Industrielles du Limousin”, with the stamp, the resumption of the letters “LS” intertwined in cursive in 1952.
Please note the tea pot was stamped "Comptoir Général
9.bd. Poissonnière , Paris." which indicated the whole set was purchased or sold in this well knowned retail store .
According to an advertisement in the 1896 issue of Didot-Bottin the Comptoir Général, a retailer, was one of ‘the most well-stocked shops for everything from: jewellery, bronze art objects, timepieces & furniture, precious stones, marble sculptures, silverware, ceiling lights & white metal, chandeliers, cutlery, lamps & diamond-facetted fireplaces, travel clocks, “fine-stone” pearls.’ The Comptoir Général was represented by Maison H. Riondet & J. Pratt, Succ., located at 9, boulevard Poissonnière and 45, rue du Sentier in Paris.
Circa: mostly was produced between 1834 to 1903.
The exceptionally high quality of tea pot body was painted beautiful turquoise jade, the cups were almost fully gilded with very rich gold . As over 100 close to 200 years old, there is natural wear due to it age. No crack, no repaired, no chips. Please be realized they are antique ,not brand new.
