It is a rare bird that only makes its appearance on earth when spectacular events or a new age of peace and splendor is about to begin. The Phoenix is normally shown with its wings spread out as it attacks a serpent with its claws. Borders on the porcelain vary but often contain stylized mountains and clouds known as Noritake pattern.

This beautiful Japanese Dinner Plate, circa 1950’s, is covered with images of the Phoenix or Flying Turkey, floral blossoms, scrolls of foliage and geometric designs in hues of shaded blue transfer on a white porcelain blank. The Plate measures 9.75” Round x 1” Tall. It is stamped “Japan” on the back.

There are no cracks, chips, or repairs. One place is seen on the back where the blue bled onto the white during the creation of the plate.

The Plate weighs 1 pound 2.1 ounces or 17.85 ounces or 506 grams. less
