Large Chinese porcelain lobed guanyinzun, a finely formed, stoutly potted, baluster shape vase with eight lobes, a thick, gilt lip, … more Large Chinese porcelain lobed guanyinzun, a finely formed, stoutly potted, baluster shape vase with eight lobes, a thick, gilt lip, a skirted foot, a polychrome glazed exterior and a white glazed interior and inset base. Diverse, finely painted, flower pots, from The Hundred Antiques, are quartered on the neck amid various, auspicious objects, also from The Hundred Antiques. The bottom of the neck is accented with a convex ring of thin, black, cloud and thunder meanders on a yellow ground, bracketed by green trim lines. The flange and shoulder of the vase are decorated with a wide band of finely painted butterflies and dragonflies amid a dense lattice of varied, auspicious flowers. The body of the vase is decorated with four, vertical double, square cartouches quartered on pairs of lobes. The upper cartouches enclose finely painted, rock gardens with branching, auspicious flowers and birds; the lower cartouches have a finely painted qilin in a garden amid blue clouds and polychrome branching, auspicious flowers. The cartouches are sparated by three, vertical, polychrome, plum flowers finely painted,on the valleys of the lobes. The foot is decorated with a smaller floral band that repeats the decoration of the neck and shoulder. The finely carved, traditional, Chinese, hongmu, circular stand is included. Circa Republic of China era, no later than mid century.
