Desktop is flat across with no slope and … more Antique 19th Century Solid Oak Lift Top Students Desk With Inner Storage. Desktop is flat across with no slope and has a hole in the top middle that was used for holding the students inkwell and just below a recessed area the length of the tabletop to hold your pencils. This was a students desk but it makes a great little oak side table with storage. The tabletop has galvanized metal hinges connecting it on both sides and opens/closes real smoothly and stays open unassisted as it should. Desk in excellent condition very solid and sturdy. There is wear and imperfections to woods surface throughout consistent with its age and use. Pictures are considered part of description so please look closely and zoom in to see the best details of current condition. It amazes me that at its age and how many rough students must have used it over the years with the exception of a little surface wear it is in the same condition as the day it was made.
