Nyholm's style can be interpreted as a form of abstract expressionism with references to the "Cobra" group which he was associated with through his friendship with the Danish artist, Asger Jorn. Many of his pieces have thus been inspired by the CoBrA Movement that rejuvenated Dutch modern art, including his mixed media paintings and ceramics. Since then, Nyholm's work has been displayed in numerous galleries and museums around the world.
