A sense of whimsy and fantasy infuses all Ako Casturea works. This architectural piece seems to land somewhere between the surreal and post modern. Her ceramic works rarely appear on the secondary market. There is a clear signature on the bottom of the piece.
About the artist: Ako Casturea , a native of California, is a graduate of the California College for the Arts. She is best known for her small scale fantastical ceramic sculptures. Her paintings are also popular. She has shown here work at institutions and galleries across the country including Occidental College and multiple shows at Giant Robot and Shepard Fairey's Subliminal Projects.
I addition, she has worked for over a decade in animation and is best known for her work on Cartoon Networks Adventure Time. In 2022, she won an Emmy for directing and writing for the Netflix animated series City of Ghosts. less
