This charcoal and chalk drawing, by the Los Angeles based artist Richard G. Parker, is from an untitled series started in 2001. It is simply known as Number II. His drawings are often mistaken as photographs. Parker has said because of the 3D quality of his work he feels like he is working on a sculpture instead of a two dimensional drawing.
Ariadni Liokatis, Curator at the USC Fisher Museum of Fine Art, said of Parker's work,
"Defined by geometry and exquisitely and masterfully executed, (his) works possess a visually commanding character combined with quiet subtle elegance while also endowed with poetic quality."
The drawing is float mounted in a custom maple frame. It is double signed. There is a 'window' on the back of the piece showing the second signature along with the artists notes on additions to the drawing. less
