A wonderful and very rare French art deco pendant light made around 1925. A nickel plated bronze or solid brass mount of excellent quality holds a nice globe by les Établissements Leune. Done in frosted clear acid-engraved glass.
The ceiling lamp is in excellent condition. It is 47 cm high (18,5 inches) and the 'Leune' signed shade has a diameter of 20 cm (7,87"). The pendant is rewired. I placed an American standard socket. For European countries I will place a E27 one.

The Leune glass manufactory was founded in 1861 in Epinay near Paris. Between 1904 and 1914 it produced tableware and vases decorated with idyllic landscapes, romantic flowers and such. After the second world war les établissements Leune opened a store and workshop at 28bis rue du Cardinal Lemoine in Paris and came to a bloom when in 1922 Auguste Heiligenstein became its technical advisor and head of the design department. Heiligenstein was a renowned specialist in enameling on glass. He left the company in 1926. And it went bankrupt after the crisis in 1929. Nowadays Eta. Leune is best known for it enamelled shades. These shades were made for Leune by Daum. Daum did the engraving and frosting. The workshops of Leune did the enamel. But Leune not only made these lamps with enamelled lamp shades. They also made perfume bottles in pressed glass. As well as mushroom lamps and lighting with acid-engraved shades without enamel.
