Chair frames show some signs of wear (as Pictured and noted) including scuffs, scrapes, light damage to a corner, a small ding, and wear on the paint from cleaning (checkered paint) and contact friction. Highest and best use would be to remove the old black lacquer finish to reveal the wood underneath. The unpainted but varnished wood on the bottom is beautiful and appears to be walnut. less

Probber cube chairs are in excellent condition except for a small nick on one arm, light damage to back right corner and paint chipping on that back vertical edge (photo 8 with notes), as well as various paint scuffing and scratches from 50 - 60 years of wear and likely cleaning with abrasive scrubber. They measure 25.5" h, x 26" w x 26.625 deep.
Both pieces are in structurally excellent condition with tight joinery and solid footing.
Chair legs are perfectly straight and shiny with intact foot discs.
Original (?) velour cushions are very comfortable and in excellent shape with no discernable wear, tearing, punctures, deformation, stains, fading, or discoloration. The supporting webbing shows signs of aging (light cracking) but is very strong. The back cushion rises 4" above chair frame.
These pieces are attractive as they are but would be show-pieces if refinished. The underside of the chairs (photo 7) shows unpainted but varnished beautiful wood, possibly walnut. Conversely, a new coat of black lacquer would restore their original beauty.

The chairs are very heavy and so will be expensive to ship - 2 packing crates will be required. Shipping at buyer's expense. Set is located in Sacramento, CA.
