An exceptional antique Asian Vellum campaign trunk on a fitted hand carved hardwood footed low stand (ideal proportions for use as a coffee table, cocktail drinks table, end table, blanket chest).
The light trunk is dates to the second half of the 19th century, Jiangsu Province, China, hand-crafted, rectangular in form, having substantial sized metal hardware, including a pair of chunky buckle clasps to the front and large forged wrought iron handles to each flank. The chest top lifts to reveal large spacious open interior providing generous storage, and rests on a stepped platform base, rising on four short shaped legs, the stand having simple lines and carved accents. Legally sourced/exported, retaining original Chinese export red wax seal. Signed, stamped to verso.
