A Rare Battersea Bilson Enamel Patriotic Patch Box, Britannia with a Union Jack shield, holding a Sceptre, seated next to a Lion indicating Bravery with a tall masted ship in the background. Used as a symbol after a poem written in 1740. “Britannia rule the waves, Brittons never will be slaves”. Later made into a song that is still sung today

The oval Patch Box has a continuous striped design on the base. The interior still retains its original Mercury Mirror. The Brass Hinge closes good and tight. Some minor damage to this box which is over 200 years old. A small area of loss on the base near the hinge and on the inside. Bright Vibrant Colors.
Measures approximately, 2 ¼” x 1 ½” x ¾” tall. Pictured next to a quarter coin for scale.
