These fantastic ornamental Chinese cast-iron gates were expressly designed for/and fronted the world famous Jimmy Wong’s restaurant at 426 South Wabash in Chicago.
Jimmy Wongs was the premier white-tablecloth Chinese restaurant in the country from the sixties through the eighties. And it was number one on the list for every VIP' and celebrity passing through Chicago.
These iconic architectural artifacts were obtained directly from the salvage company hired to clear out the space before the building was demolished back in 1997..
They're one of a kind and the design work is stunning.. Decades of Chicago weather-fronts have given these cast iron antiques a beautifully authentic patina that could never be re-created by man alone.
Original hinges are solidly intact and functional.
Perfect for a Chinese restaurant or garden or simply for wall-art.
