Antique Art Deco Black Cast Metal “Disc Thrower” Bookends by Pompeian Bronze Co, Circa 1920s. Greek revival interpretations of the classical Roman “Discobolos” statue by Myron. The athletic form is rendered mid-swing with his arm stretch backward holding the discus. Mounted to a post, raised on a platform base. Blackened bronze surface finish. Ribbed on the interior and labeled in the mold, “PB Co Disc Thrower” on each bookend. Produced by the Pompeian Bronze Co. in Brooklyn, New York. Sold as a pair.
