This Particular mold that we use is over a century old and came from a glassblowing workshop in Tuscany that made chandeliers and wine bottles, among other things. The shape of this classic Italian optic mold is inspired by the pineal gland as rendered by the Roman Catholic Church. The Pineal gland, also referred to as the ‘third eye” is a gland that resides in the frontal cortex of your brain and regulates circadian rhythms. This gland has been thought of by many cultures as the biological center of enlightenment. The Occhio glass sits low in the hand and feels well balanced while projecting light refracted from its pinecone texture. Each glass is completely hand blown and hand opened after receiving its signature texture in the first steps of formation. less
