Bed has been modified to almost full size. The side rails are modern and have been lowered as can be seen in the photos. The bed would have originally had a rope spring as can be seen with the rails on the head and foot boards. The current measurements would work with an old metal spring but not with a modern box spring. A modern box spring is 53" to 54" wide and the space between the rails is 52 1/2". The length inside the rails is 75 3/4" and a modern full size spring and mattress is 75" long so no problem there. They make modern metal rails which could be attached to the head and footboard instead of the wood rails. This would solve the problem fairly easily. Bed posts are 46 1/2" tall. The outside width of the bed is 56 1/2" and the length at the outside is 83". Inside the rails measures 52 1/2" by 75 3/4". Bed was refinished years ago. Minor wear to the finish consistent with use and age. less
