The "regionalist" and playful look of this painting -- as well as the perspective -- brings to mind the work of America's famous regionalist painter, Thomas Hart Benton. Perhaps this is Nardy's wish for the end of the war that was ravaging Europe (if painted before the end of that war) or her celebration of its finish and her wish for the return of the ideal life as depicted. less
