Just shot out of Jack's Restoration Cannon, and looking like a million (but priced lower) -- a classic four-light French Art Deco wrought iron chandelier with unsigned but very high quality glass in the manner of Schneider or Degué. Disassembled, re-plated in brushed nickel (over wrought iron), antiqued, fitted with American candelabra sockets and rewired (there's a standard-sized socket in the center bowl, but maximum recommended wattage (per socket) is 60, since candelabra wire has been employed). The ribbed and flower-strewn shades are particularly attractive, and all four glass shades are heavy and beautifully designed and crafted in the French tradition of companies like Lalique, Muller, Daum and so on... Note that the glass is mostly frosted, but has various polished, clear elements that create some sparkle (from the bulb’s filament) when the light is lit. A caveat: true to form, this chandelier doesn't have "your standard" fittings that would allow the canopy to be easily made flush to the ceiling. In many parts of France and Europe, a simple hook is embedded in the ceiling (no electrical box) and there's a corresponding hook inside the canopy. So, installation is a two-minute job. Our Frenchman mounts a ladder, connects the wires coming out of the ceiling to those inside the canopy, and swings the hook inside the canopy to hang from the hook coming out of the ceiling. There's a couple-inch gap between the top of the canopy and the ceiling, but ... so what?!! If you or your electrician is clever, that gap can be reduced to a half-inch or so, which (for me) would put this in "so what" territory. BUT, if you're the kind of person who has to have everything "perfect" and neat and clean, this one isn't for you. On the other hand, if you can't resist the beauty of this fixture, then compromise somewhat and still have the "light of your life!"
Measurements: hanging about 26 inches long, with a diameter of about 18. less
