This panel is with the tiles in original 18th century condition, so they are not restored. The panel is delivered as if it were a painting with a wooden skeleton so that the tiles are in their original position. The Old Portuguese Tile " Azulejo " Al-zuleique is the Arabic word from which tile is derived and designated the "small smooth and polished stone" used by Muslims in the Middle Ages. The way in which they applied the tiles to decorate floors and walls liked the Portuguese kings and thus, from the 15th century, they became a prominent place in architecture. It can be said that Portugal adopted them in a unique way, like no other European country. In the 18th century the tile "invaded" churches and convents, palaces and houses, gardens, fountains and stairways. with geometric motifs, telling stories of the life of saints or profane themes such as the La Fontaine fables, sometimes with text as if it were a comic book ancestor, they became one of the main Portuguese decorative elements. Today the old Portuguese tile is a highly prestigious collector's item and is sought after by the best auction houses in the world in order to offer its clients this magnificent work of world art. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
