The Jakob Bengel Bijouterief Abrik was founded in 1873. In the period from 1930 and 1939, Jakob Bengel produced numerous collections by Art Deco fashion jewelry, which was also very popular in France. Typical was a combination of chrome metal and galalith.
Galalith is a biodegradable milk -based plastic, which was developed around 1900, which could be colored and shaped as desired. In the 1930s, buttons and jewelry were made from Galalith.
The designers of the jewelry are unfortunately unknown because the collections are not marked.
However, there is a formal strict through all collections that have clear influences of the Bauhaus. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
