The Samarkanda glass applique lamp’s unique shape and quintessential Fortuny pattern evoke the mystique of ancient trade journeys, and the cultural fusion they sparked.
Samarkand is a city in present day Uzbekistan, and lies on the famous Silk Road trade route linking Venice and China.
It has a helmet-like structure, with spirals topped by an ornamental disc. The disc is decorated with patterns suggesting a rose window in a Gothic cathedral.
