Sculptural, large, egg lamp (model V-1318) by the Laurel Lamp Company with Italian white frosted glass globe, circa, 1977. This Minimalist lamp features a frosted Italian glass, hand-blown sculpted globe (original sticker remains). When unlit, the globe has a lovely, soft white frosted presence and sits sculpturally in a space; when lit it gives off the perfect, moody glow.
Laurel Lamp Company was founded by Max and Harold Weiss in Newark, NJ and was active from 1946 until 1981. President Harold Weiss introduced the company to Murano Italian glass in 1971 and an overseas alliance was formed. They collaborated with many famed designers including Richard Barr and Pierre Cardin. By 1979, Laurel had showrooms in New York City, San Francisco, Chicago, Dallas, North Carolina, and Los Angeles. Mr. Weiss was the driving force behind the success of Laurel Lamp’s iconic designs. He passed away in 2014. Laurel lamps are highly collectible, design-driven pieces, that have transcended the test of time.
