A vintage Turkish Sivas Carpet. This unusual, light colored Sivas has seven columns of 17 oval medallions each in a quasi-Turkoman layout with cruciform minor devices between. The designer must have seen a c.1900 Tekke Turkmen carpet! The smaller medallions of the ivory border mirror the larger shapes in the field. This rug has a definitely structured pattern with no loose cannons on the Sivas design deck.
