Antique reclining violinist "Sans Souci" made of cast bronze with Tharel signature and Susse stamp (Susse Frères). 19th century with. The piece is a detailed bronze sculpture with red Levante marble base. In general has good condition (see the pictures for details). The creator was Leon Tharel (1858–1902) who was a French sculpture and the manufacturer was Susse Frères foundry. The Susse Frères firm was established in 1839 by brothers Michel Victor Susse and Amedee Susse, who set up a foundry in Paris. The company was famous for producing exceptionally cast bronzes, which often featured impressively applied patinas. In addition to works of sculpture, Susse Frères made delicate parts for furniture and clocks, collaborating with several French sculptors to produce refined designs. The company continued to be run by Susse family members until the 1970s. less
