Colorful, expressive vintage stone lithograph after Pablo Picasso's work, inscribed "Pour Margaret/son ami." Elegantly presented in a gilt and ivory beveled frame with linen matting. Signed in plate.
In 1932 Picasso wrote a note to himself on the back of an envelope regarding his reaction to seeing Manet's Déjeuner sur l'herbe: "I tell myself, tribulations for later." This was a particularly prescient quote. Close to thirty years later, Picasso would confront the great painting in a series of one hundred and forty drawings, twenty-seven paintings, and four linoleum cuts. less
