There are a couple of tiny areas where the crazing has discolored. There are no chips or cracks. There are surface scuffs that I did not want to wash aggressively. There appears to be a glaze loss due to a popped bubble on one vase. A gilt ring around the top is mostly faded. Zoom in on the photos, or ask for more, if necessary. less

For sale is a pair of Phoenix Art Faience vases by Thomas Forester in the Veloutino style. The pear shaped vases have a background of soft pink that gradates to pale blue green at the bottom. The fronts are painted with exuberant (Magnolia?) flowers, in shades of pink and rose with leaves of green and violet. The painting is outlined in gilt. The vases are similar, but not identical. The background also has random washes of gold in cloud-like splashes.
They are 12” high, 4” at the top, 6” at the base and about 9” at the widest point.
They are marked in brown “Phoenix Art Faience” with a crown, as well as TF&S Veloutino with a bird. There is also an incised stamp “ Foresters”.
The condition of both vases is very good. There is age related crazing overall. There are a couple of tiny areas where the crazing has discolored. There are no chips or cracks. There are surface scuffs that I did not want to wash aggressively. There appears to be a glaze loss due to a popped bubble on one vase. A gilt ring around the top is mostly faded. I believe this dates from 1883 to 1891. The TF&S (Thomas Forester & Sons) mark started in 1883. After 1891, “LTD”, and “England” would have been added to the mark. less
