This striking pair of Art Déco french glass perfume bottles date to the early 20th century and exemplify the arts and crafts aesthetic of the period. Molded from glass, the bottles feature delicate etchings and embossings of natural motifs like flowers and birds. The elegant ovoid forms and decorative details showcase the influence of the era's prevailing Art Déco style. One bottle bears the mark of french glassmaker Burgun Schverer & Co., founded in 1711 and known for ornate hollowware. The other is stamped by Robj, a french ceramics firm operating from 1908-early 1930s that created stylized caricatures of musicians, sailors and french regional costumes.
With their graceful shapes, intricate engravings and marks of notable french manufacturers, these bottles encapsulate the artistry and craftsmanship that defined Art Déco design in the early 1900s. Their harmonious fusion of form and decoration make them an appealing addition for collectors.
Their measures are:
Burgun & Schverer bottle: 3.2 in x 7.30 in
ROBJ bottle: 2.7 in x 6 in
Both bottles exhibit traces of the passage of time and marks from use, as can be observed in the images. less
