It is signed 'Zarou' in the bottom left corner and framed in an ornate gold-painted wood and gesso frame. Our research indicates this painting is reflective of the Carmargue region, a vast coastal wetland in Southern France.

Gerard Cardella Zarou (1930-2013) was a French Postwar and Contemporary artist born in Gassin, France. Son of the accomplished French impressionist painter Tony Cardella, he was quick to follow in his father's footsteps, having his first exhibition and sale at age 12. He went on to study in Paris and exhibit in famous galleries around Europe and was included in an exhibit besides Dali, Picasso, and Chagall.
