Offering an Extra-Large 1960s French Advertising Cigarette Porcelain Ashtray for Gauloises Cigarettes of France. It has a beautiful high gloss gray-blue glaze with metallic gold detailing and a navy-blue Hermes winged helmet Logo in the center of the tray. This gorgeous monumental ashtray was manufactured by the renowned French porcelain company: Orchies Moulin Des Loups as seen underneath the tray. A rare and hard to find vintage French ashtray in this size and condition.
This blue, white and metallic gold ashtray is so large that it can be used as a vide poche or catchall. It is signed "GAULOISES" on three sides and "Cigarettes de France" on the front side. The lovely shade of gray- blue is surrounded by a thin metallic gold line with the Hermes helmet logo in the center of the white background.
EXCELLENT CONDITION......No chips, no cracks or damage of any kind.... some minor metallic gold loss. This monumental ashtray appears to be brand new and looks like it has never been used.

GAULOISES:
Gauloises cigarettes were launched in 1910. Traditional Gauloises were short, wide, unfiltered and made with dark tobaccos from Syria and Turkey which produced a strong and distinctive aroma. In March 1954, they launched the "Gauloise Disque Bleu" brand which was packaged in a beautiful sky-blue color. The brand was also linked to high-status and inspirational figures representing the worlds of art (e.g. Pablo Picasso) and the intellectual elite (e.g. Jean-Paul Sartre, Albert Camus and Jean Baudrillard). In popular music, for example French pianist and composer Maurice Ravel, American singer Jim Morrison, and British music icon John Lennon, all smoked this brand of French cigarettes. less
