This design aesthetic emphasized symmetry and drew inspiration from ancient Greek and Roman art.

The intricate metalwork features cast neoclassical motifs throughout. Starting with an elegant crown adorned with an acanthus leaf pattern, the chandelier is supported by four ornate chains leading to a textured rim embellished with bellflowers and leaf designs. The gilded bronze finish adds a touch of opulence, preserving the chandelier's original allure.

The standout element of this piece is the meticulously hand-carved alabaster stone bowl and shades. Alabaster, a soft and translucent sedimentary rock with a smooth texture, emits a warm glow when illuminated. With a history of over 3,000 years in decorative arts, alabaster's natural veining and color variations make each piece unique. The interplay of light against the stone's veins and matte sheen creates a captivating contrast in any room setting.

The chandelier has been rewired to meet US electrical standards. It takes eight base-size light bulbs, incandescent or LED. Four interior light bulbs in the large middle bowl and four light bulbs for the arms. Please check with your electrician or contractor for specifics on installing a chandelier with this weight before purchase. The gilt bronze parts are in good condition, with no repairs. The gilt is in good condition enhancing the richness and effectively maintaining the original appearance. The alabaster bowl has been repaired professionally in 3 different spots and has a few light inconspicuous scratches. There are deep veins from its mineral composition which may be confused for a crack. However, it is intact and there are no cracks or chips. The bowl fits into the bronze rim. Thus for transport, it is easy to remove and reinstall. The alabaster shades also come off and should be packed separately. However, alabaster is soft enough to be scratched with a fingernail and easily broken, soiled, or weathered. It requires special packing and shipping. H=33 in. W=38 in. D=38 in. 70 lbs.
