The “Manifattura Rossi” Studio workshop traces it’s origins to the innovations made in the field of ceramics especially the technique of “Bucchero” by “The Rossi Brothers of Gubbio” initiated by Carlo Alberto and Antonio Maria Rossi in 1932.
A respect for the highest quality especially in the aspect of formal research has always been a characteristic of the workshop to a point that some of it’s creations have been selected as representative in an exhibition by the Ministry of foreign relations and trade held in New York to commemorate the anniversary of the discovery of America.
Of the varied collections that characterize the work of this studio are some models ordered by the celebrated architect Gio Ponte expressly commissioned from Carlo Alberto in the 1950s.
Many have been the exhibitions and awards , most importantly a diploma and a medal of recognition from the Head of the Government to the “company of the Rossi brothers” in 1934.
Bucchero technique: The clay is left to dry in the open air and then baked at a very high-temperature in a closed and smoke filled oven, without the removed oxygen the clay is transformed into a ferrous-oxide, which is integrally black and glossy rather than the original red. less
