Inspired by several iconic 1930's designs, this stunning art deco streamlined lamp exudes the best of the "machine age" aesthetic with clean lines, machine inspired components, and a touch of beautifully marbled catalin. Catalin is a form of early phenolic resin (plastic), similar to bakelite, that was popular during the 1930s-1940s, and is highly collectible today due to its beautiful marbled colors. This is perfect for adding a little deco character to your living room, den, or office space.
The catalin/bakelite parts on this piece are in good condition and have been polished by hand to bring out their deep and naturally varied color while retaining their natural patina. The metal components are nickel plated and polished to a high shine and separated with machined aluminum spacers. The lamp has a weighted base and a brown soft-touch felt on the bottom to protect your furniture from scratches. The electrical components have been wired with a new black rayon cord and a black vintage style polarized plug for safe and modern usage.
