Century - England. Made from solid quarter awn oak with pegged mortise and tenon construction. Rare 18th Century dated example with unusual raised decorative front panel. Somewhat Brutalist in style.
The date "1798" is carved at front. Family name "Massy" included in the Coat of Arms or Armorial Crest. Additionally the armorial carving is signed lower left with initials "SP".
Dated 1798.
Condition is good for age with totally acceptable & typical surface wear, repair, & loss including replaced hinges, loss to applied geometric design, and some loss to carved crest. All adds to the character of this historic storage piece of furniture.
For us in living areas, bedrooms, boot rooms, or anywhere needed. Can possibly be sat upon.
