This Cy Twombly Abstract Expressionist offset lithograph print Paris retrospective exhibition large volume hardcover art book is a very special and unique book to add to your library collection.
The hardcover art book with monochrome embossed cover and spine titles, and dust jacket is published by Sieveking Verlag, Munich. The 2nd edition book is printed in Germany in 2020 in conjunction with the retrospective exhibition at The Centre National D'Art Georges Pompidou, Paris in 2016. It features an expansive monograph catalogue survey collection of the AbstracT Expressionist artworks of the artist Cy Twombly, edited by Jonas Storsve.
Cy Twombly ( 1928 - 2011 ) is an American born Abstract Expressionist painter, sculptor, and photographer. The predominately large scale freely scribbled, calligraphic and graffiti like works shift toward Romantic Symbolism interpreted visually through shapes, forms, colors, and words. Twombly is said to have influenced younger artists such as Jean Michel Basquiat, Anselm Kiefer, Francesco Clemente, and Julian Schnabel. Artworks by Twombly are included in the collections of many of the world's most prestigious museums.
Cy Twombly loved Paris and spent a great deal of time there throughout his life and career. And Paris has always loved Cy Twombly, from the time of his first exhibition there in 1961 through the many exhibitions of his work in the French capital throughout his life and after.
This beautiful volume with over 300 illustrations including some presented here for the first time, accompanied The Center Pompidou's exhibition of an unprecedented scale. Organized by Jonas Storsve, curator at The Musee National D'Art Moderne, the show traces the entire career of the artist. The landmark exhibition presented the full extent of this exceptional body of work and, in so doing, highlights the strong and uninterrupted relation ship between Twombly and Paris.
The large volume hardcover exhibition art book measures 11 1/4" W X 11 1/4" H X 1 3/8" D, with 320 pages. It is printed on premium paper stock, featuring 304 offset lithograph print illustrations, artist chronology, solo exhibitions list, bibliography, and list of exhibited works.
It is in excellent " like new " very clean condition with very light signs of handling. Please see photos for condition reference. It is now being offered here for an excellent price. less
