A very large and colorful oil on canvas painting of Sausalito Harbor on a sunny and busy weekend afternoon. The artist Delia Mannion Frund(1888-1972) likely painted it from her house which was located on the hill above the harbor. Belvedere peninsula is across the bay. The foreground building is still in existence on Caledonia street. The light captured in the painting is extraordinary.
The artist was known for her Marin County landscapes. She is listed in Edan Hughes “Artists in California , 1786-1940”. She exhibited her work extensively from the 1920s including the Palace of Fine Arts San Francisco. less
