The image depicts a massive tree with a house in the distance. The shading is exquisite on this piece! The tone-on-tone raw and burnt umber color amongst the textured off-white color of the canvas board gives it depth and interest.

Even though there is no artist signature, I knew this artist very well. She's Frances Cooper, my late mother who was an exceptional artist. I actually recall sitting at her feet in the mid-70's as she painted this picture.
