A very unique antique Pennsylvania Folk Art marquetry top game table, super neat inlays. All hand cut, and hand glued inlays. Truly a unique one of a kind table.

Folky, and in a sense almost "Tramp Art-ish". Made out of recycled furniture parts, and artfully chosen inlays.

Found in Lancaster County, PA. Probably made in Lancaster or Berks Counties. We feel this table was made circa 1920-1935-ish.

The style and workmanship of the inlays feels 20's and depression era. The top consists of inlays that are set in multiple directions, in a quasi checkerboard pattern. Little clubs, and hearts, and what look to be shields are inlayed in the corners. The top is framed in from what appears to be a walnut victorian deep well picture frame, and then a angular cut inlay roping.
The base centre pedestal made from a oak newell post which are inlaid with little diamonds. The legs are the tables only design flaw. The Craftsman chose a poorly cut of oak, in which the grain is running in a top to bottom direction, causing several old "Make-Do" repairs to the legs after they cracked from the wood drying out. The legs them selves end out in a folky and funky strange cut and carved "Claw" feet.

Size: 32 3/4" by 26 1/2" top, 29 1/2" tall

Condition: Excellent Condition for the age, and construction methods. Several make do repairs of the base legs, the grain on the wood is running in the top to bottom direction, which was a design flaw, causing the wood to split from the tables own weight. There was a brass or iron rod fixed to the underside of the legs to sure up the legs. less
