Description: This antique (c 1910) English “welsh dresser” or sideboard would blend perfectly with every style and provides an abundance of … more This antique (c 1910) English “welsh dresser” or sideboard would blend perfectly with every style and provides an abundance of display and storage area. The top is beautifully trimmed, with scalloping on the top and scalloped trim on the upper side panels. The back of the top is paneled with two grooved shelves to display your pewter or decorative dishes. The base has lovely traditional English ‘turned spool” or “bobbin” legs. The unusually rare size cupboard comes in two pieces for transporting. The top measures 41 inches wide 9 inches deep and 33 inches tall. The lower base measures 44 wide by 16 inches deep by 34 inches tall and features one large drawer measuring 37 inches wide 12 inches deep and 10 inches high with original hardware.

The lovely cupboard is in good condition with typical wear from age and use.

These pieces, commonly known as "Welsh dressers" were a necessity of the 19th and early 20th century English kitchen or dining room. There were no pantries or other storage to speak of in the average English country home of the era~~just what you would expect to see in the downstairs kitchen on Downton Abbey! less
